Hello from the farm!
We have been so busy with Shearing, planting, and preparing the land for spring. This past winter was very warm and we are hoping for a moderate temperature because we plan to spend lots of time outside, If it’s too hot we might just have to go swimming in the pond J
Alpacas, Goats, Chickens Oh my!
I could spam you pictures of the animals all day! They are so cute and so much a part of our lives. We are expecting a baby alpaca any day. It is hard to wait for their 11 month+ gestation period. No new baby goats or chickens, but we will be getting a Billy soon.
Fruits, veggies, and dye plants
We have been busy in the garden. Started some dye plants inside; indigo, madder, elencampe, woad, amarynth, and henna. Outside we started winter veggies from seed; peas, bush beans, lettuce, spinach, chard, cauliflower, and broccoli. Looking forward to warmer months for the rest of the veggies and cotton
Fiber processing
The rest of the year will be busy with processing the fleeces from shearing day. I will make sure to post lots of pictures.
SO many bags of fleece to process! We can make dryer balls with the fiber that is not great to spin.Dryer balls are used to help speed up the dry time, reduce static electricity and the best part eliminate toxins.
